I decided to hire a Doppler to use throughout my current pregnancy to help with my fear of losing my baby.

Having suffered three previous miscarriages, the last one being a missed miscarriage and finding out at my 12-week ultrasound that my baby’s heart had stopped beating at the 10-week mark was devastating. Feeling very nervous about this pregnancy and having a rocky start to the pregnancy, I thought that a Doppler might help calm my fears of losing another baby.

I received my Doppler when I was 15 weeks pregnant and it has been such a relief to be able to hear my baby’s heartbeat. There is nothing more precious to me than the sound of my baby’s heart beating.

My partner also loves to have a go and loves listening to it also. My daughter who is nine loves to hold the Doppler and find the heart beat, it definitely is a great way for the whole family to be involved with the pregnancy as with appointments booked during the day it is not always possible for everyone to attend.

One tip I have found when looking for the heart beat is to start just above the pubic bone and start from left to right and take time slowly in each spot as if you move too quickly you could miss it. My midwife has also said depending where baby is you can hear baby’s heartbeat through the placenta sounds.

I definitely think it is very important to not stress when trying to find the heart beat. I couldn’t find the heart beat one morning and decided to wait for my partner to get home and have a turn before stressing out and fair enough he found the heart beat and put my mind at ease!

Hiring the Doppler is such a wonderful experience that myself and my family are thoroughly enjoying at the moment, it has put my mind at ease hearing my baby’s heartbeat as often and as frequent as I like.

Thank you Sweet Beats!!
