It describes how the Ottoman Turks, a small band of nomadic soldiers, managed to expand their dominions from a small principality in northwestern Anatolia on the borders of the Byzantine Empire into one of the great empires of fifteenth- and sixteenth-century Europe and Asia, extending from northern Hungary to southern Arabia and from the Crimea across North Africa almost to the Atlantic Ocean.

もうすぐ2歳になる娘に、少しずつ漢字に興味を持ってもらいたくて購入しましたが、まだ早すぎたようです。 ページ見開きの左側には、赤色の小さな活字の漢字のバックに、毛筆で力強く大きく書かれた黒色の漢字が重なって配置されているのですが、そのせいで漢字の形がパッと見て分かり難いように思えます。 漢字の書き順や、同じ漢字が用いられている熟語がいくつかずつ載っているので、小学校入学前後の子供なら、興味を持って見てくれるかもしれません。
